I am 36 years old and I had a new VP Valve Strata 1.5 Magnetic type put in this year after my shunt blocked Feb 2010. Since this has been in, I have had continual problem with ongoing nausea. This is the first this problem has occurred after a replacement. Has anyone else experienced this and got any solutions.

My infant daughter had the same problem; the shunt surgery messed her belly up terribly and we have been dealing with it since August... she was eating and gaining weight well until the surgery and then things went downhill; the doc blames it on reflux... wish I could give you some better answer, but I am interested in what others have to say as well.

HI, I'm 25. I have had two shunt revisions (Only got a shunt for the first time last year). After my second revision I was nausous and vomitting all the time, particularly in the mornings. The doctors couldn't explain it and just treated it with anti-nausea medication. It eventually went away over time but I do still get it from time to time when I get headaches.

yes they don't seem to have an answer for nausea. Just keep telling me "takes time". I have since had problems with extreme headaches. Would love to have the old type back.

It's funny that I have read so many cases of people with vomitting and nausea in relation to hydrocephalus and yet doctors and neurosurgeons seem as though they have never heard of such symptoms

Morning nausea began to be a common occurrence for me the year prior to my diagnosis at the age of 39. It would happen almost every morning, accompanied by a headache. I also experienced a lot of nausea and vomiting as a child and have often wondered if it was because of the congenital hydro, which was undiagnosed at that time.
