HI I am concerned about overdrainage... my daughter just turned 8 mos old and her head is now small; she will be 6 months old adjusted on Jan 1. Wondering if anyone has experienced this; the PA said that this is very rare and that I could move up my next apptmt with the doc (so I did!). Thanks alot for your input!

The doctor said that he doesn't think overdrainage is happening... said her head may stay smaller... so much fluid is getting drained. She is 9 months old and head is at the 2nd percentile.

my daughter is 11 now. when she was born her head was in the >95%.at 14 months old her shunt was placed because of moderately enlarged ventricles. she had 1 revision when she was 5 and another just a week and a half ago. she had a ct scan done immediately after her shunt was put in that showed her ventricles to be very small. her neurosurgeon mentioned that she may have developed something called slit ventricle syndrome. i don't have much info about this condition yet, but i have been researching whatever I can find. you might want to ask your doctor about this.

Thanks for your post. I did ask the doc about slit ventricle syndrome, because I too researched it... he confidently answered that it is not happening in her case based on the amount of fluid that was there... but I can't help but still worry. Can you keep me posted as to what happens in your daughter's case? I would be very grateful.
