I have 3 children my oldest who is healthy, my middle child was born with hydrocephalus and our youngest is healthy as well. We like you worried, but were told that our risks were not increased because of our daughter and that with each pregnancy the risk is the same for anyone.

I have hydrocephalus and I have 4 brothers who are completely healthy. I was born with hydrocephalus but it may have been caused during birth. The frequency of Hydrocephalus in my family is thus: 1/5. 3 of my brothers are younger than I am.

the only way you will know is if you get genetic testing. I have 3 children 1st girl no hydro. the 2nd and 3rd boys both with hydro. the dr. told me it was very rare to be genetic and very unlikely to have another with hydro. but we i guess are that exception. we are going to get genetic testing now .

Our neurosurgeon told us that since our child with hydrocephalus is a girl, our chances with having a second child with hydro was not increased. But if our child with hydro had been a boy, there would be a possiblity of its being genetic.

My sister and I both have aquaductal stenosis. She is three years younger than me and was diagnosed at birth. This being the 1970s, the doctors weren't able to offer my parents any explanation, however did recommend that they not have any further children.
